Brooklyn-Based Jewelry Studio Announces Retail Partnership With Fashion Discovery Platform Arete Studios

NEW YORK, NY — bywolfgang, the Brooklyn-based sculptural jewelry studio founded by fine artist and second-generation metalsmith Veronica Wolfgang, is now available at Arete Studios — both at their newly opened New York storefront and through the Arete Studios online platform.

The partnership brings together two practices united by a commitment to craft, independent design, and the belief that the stories behind objects are inseparable from the objects themselves.

"bywolfgang began out of a devotion to craft and is deeply inspired by the queer community I have the honor of calling my chosen family," said Veronica Wolfgang, founder of bywolfgang. "My goal has always been to create jewelry that complements that unique spirit of this city I have the honor of calling my home. Arete Studios shares that belief — that what you wear should mean something, and that the people who make it should too."

Founded in 2023, bywolfgang grew from Veronica's years-long practice spanning sculpture, metalwork, and installation. What began as organically formed rings and hand-crocheted bracelets sold directly off their wrist in New York City bars has evolved into a sculptural, genre-defying jewelry line shaped by artistic lineage and the city's queer creative underground. Each piece is handcrafted from 100% stainless steel and aluminum — hypoallergenic, water-resistant, and designed for everyday wear.

Veronica's path to jewelry is deeply personal. Raised by two artists, they were first introduced to the craft by their father — a master goldsmith whose work brought him to Tiffany & Co. When he passed, Veronica was 14. Returning to metalwork years later became a way of returning to him. That inheritance lives in every bywolfgang piece: the attention to structure, the respect for material, the understanding that an object made well can hold something lasting.
